Government Affairs Assistant


The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) is a 501(c)(6) non-profit trade association seeking a qualified professional for a full-time position in our Washington, DC office. The Government Affairs Assistant assists senior staff with day-to-day tasks relating to government relations activities including, but not limited to, coordinating meetings, scheduling assistance and event coordination; assisting with correspondence and basic office management functions, including managing incoming/outgoing mail and office supplies.  This position will also serve as the liaison to RFA’s St. Louis office on accounting, HR, and other administrative matters.


RFA seeks an energetic professional who is able to execute assigned tasks independently with little supervision.  The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is organized, efficient and enthusiastic about working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. This position is based in RFA’s Washington, DC office and reports directly to the Sr. Vice President, Government and Public Affairs.



  • Serve as receptionist when needed (greeting visitors, answering calls)
  • Provide support for meetings as needed, including room preparation and occasional notetaking
  • Assists with scheduling for senior staff
  • Coordinates DC area related events for the organization
  • Assist senior staff with reconciliation of credit card accounts
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail
  • Manages office supplies as needed
  • Other general administrative support duties as necessary

  • Proficient user of basic software applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, etc.)



  • Professional experience supporting executive-level management recommended
